Sunshine Coast Backpacking

Every year backpackers flock to the Sunshine Coast to enjoy over 70 kilometres of beach, laid back vibe, Australian wild life attractions and cute Hinterland towns. There's also lots of places dotted along to the coastline to grab a cheap, cold beer.

Each beachside town has one or two backpacker hostels which are clean and cheap and offer friendly service. Staying in backpacker hostels is a great way to meet other like-minded travellers enjoying the Sunny Coast. Hire a car or take a tour to discover all of the Sunshine Coast's attractions. However, trying to leave the beach or local Surf Club often proves to be pretty difficult.

The Sunshine Coast seldom sees the giant swells you expect on the southern beaches of the Gold Coast so they are the perfect training waves. There's lots of places where you can hire a surfboard and take a few lessons. If surfing isn't your thing then grab a fishing rod and head to one of the creeks to try your hand at catching some of the local fish.

Come night time the Sunshine Coast has a few major hotspots that are pumping till the early hours of the morning. Noosa Heads probably has more nightclubs than the other beach towns however if you just want to a cool drink then the Surf Clubs and beachside pubs are fantastic. Most of the pubs in the area also offer nightly cheap meal and drink deals where you can get a Parma and pot of beer for just $10.

It may surprise you but the Sunshine Coast also has a dynamic live music scene with lots of small venues hosting national and local acts. There's always a cover band playing old favourites and new hits at a pub on a Saturday night too.

Behind the beach in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland are very fertile fields full of fruit and nuts. Fruit and nut picking is popular with travellers in the area as the farms provide food and accommodation for those working the fields.
