Main Sunshine Coast Shopping Areas
While there are plenty of shopping centres throughout the Sunshine Coast, your true taste of local life will come from taking a walk down the regular shopping streets.
Rather than shop in a replica of something you have at home head to any one of these shopping strips to find a string of boutique shops, gift stores, local grocers, bakers, butchers and more.
There are plenty of friendly cafes and takeaway stores that have operated in the area for years. They know the Sunshine Coast like the back of their hand, so if you need some advice on local activities these are the people to ask.
Alexandra Headland
Locate the Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club and you’ll find a number of boutique shops and cafes nearby. There are plenty of beach fashions as well as locally popular take-aways, cafes and restaurants full of small town charm. After an afternoon of shopping you can choose from fish and chips on the beach to friendly café dining or even some of the best seafood restaurants on the coast.
Caloundra
Bulcock Street is considered one of the Sunshine Coast’s greatest shopping secrets. Caloundra’s sunny, tree lined street is home to over 100 local businesses that include everything from gifts & home wares to beauty services, food, fashion and even entertainment.
You’ll also find the Caloundra Country & Farmers Markets every Sunday at the Currimundi State School in Buderim St. Local Markets are a treasure trove of arts & crafts, boutique fashions, fresh produce, local wines and once loved items.
Coolum
If you head to Birtwill Street in Coolum you’ll find a unique collection of small shops well worth visiting for their fashion, gifts, jewellery, home wares, souvenirs, beach supplies, books and much more.
Eumundi
This small, laidback town is known for its rich history and heritage listed buildings. The main street of Eumundi is lined with heritage-listed fig trees, wonderful old architecture and a range of unique shops. Browse through art galleries, glass art, hemp huts, book barns and even a chocolate factory.
As if the village style shopping wasn’t enough, every Wednesday and Saturday the town hosts the Eumundi Markets, attracting thousands of people to over 500 make it, bake it, design it, sew it or grow it type stalls.
Montville
High up on the Blackall Range is the renowned arts & crafts district of Montville. Take a scenic drive out here where you can shop, shop, shop to your heart’s content in this historic town of homemade gifts, unique fashions, traditional foods and friendly cafés.
Mooloolaba
Take a walk along the Mooloolaba Esplanade and bask in the sunshine as you visit a wealth of retail outlets. Where else can you enjoy such amazing seaside views while making holiday purchases from such an extensive range? First Avenue in Mooloolaba has also emerged of late as an upmarket shopping precinct of designer products from Australia and around the world.
Noosa – Hastings Street
The main strip of Noosa is often rated as one of Australia’s favourite getaway destinations. Among plenty of other appealing factors, Hastings Street is home to some of the best boutiques on the Sunshine Coast. The food is here is not to be taken for granted either, with plenty of restaurants and a bakery you cannot miss.
Perigian Beach
Not far from the foreshore and Surf Club of Perigian Beach you’ll discover a world of hip shops and cafes in Perigian Beach Square. The shops here range from small boutiques to arty stores and clothing & accessories.
