Sunshine Coast Culture

Many know the Sunshine Coast as the creative heart of Queensland. A place where artists can retreat to to find that inner meaning amongst the tranquility and peace that this area has to offer. The area is home to potters, painters, leather workers, glass artisans, timber and stone carvers and artisans in precious metals. And, to showcase all of these unique works are the seemingly endless array of antique shops and galleries that feature the art of some of Australia's best known painters.

The little quaint and out-of-the-way villages promote a slightly bohemian twist to life. Here you can find a barrage of alternative therapies such as aroma-therapy, massage and spa treatments that are often available at resorts or bed and breakfast establishments.

The region is culturally alive with various other talents to be discovered. There are writers, musicians, theatre and television performers, producers and directors. Just when you think they couldn't have something unique - you just keep finding it.

With the area's reputation growing rapidly you can follow establisted arts and crafts gallery trails through the villages of Montville, Maleny, Flaxton and Mapleton in the hinterlands. If you want readily available locally made works then there's always Queensland's famous Eumundi Markets. Noosa is also becoming internationally recognised for its art with local artist's works being found in serious international collections.

The Sunshine Coast; with libraries, cinema complexes, museums, heritage and historical sites and constant learning opportunities you'll come home enriched and culturally uplifted from the experience that is just waiting for others to explore it.
